What Does End of Support for Windows 7 Mean?
- Software updates
- Security updates or fixes
- Technical support
If you are a a part of the 39% of PCs that still currently use Windows 7, you could continue using it, however, without continued security and software updates, your device will be at a higher risk for viruses and malware. The best way for you to stay secure and protect your data is by updating to Windows 10. The best way to experience Windows 10 is on a new PC, providing faster updates and less downtime offline. It is possible to install Windows 10 on your older PC model, but it is not recommended.
If you do decide to stay with the current version, or if you choose to upgrade to Windows 10, ABS is here to support you through this transition. We want to share some helpful tips on the ways to keep your data secure through the process and make it as smooth of a shift as possible.
1. Back up your data, including files and photos
Before you embark on updating your software from Windows 7 to Windows 10, it is imperative that you back up your data. There are many benefits to updating your software, but one of the biggest mistakes you can make during this process is losing your date due to poor backup. The easiest way to securely backup your date to ensure you will not experience any loss is through OneDrive, Google Drive, or even a USB flash drive if your amount of data allows it. It is always better to be safe than sorry- which is why data backup is so important during this process but on a regular basis as well.
2. Check out the latest PC Models
