If you use Microsoft Teams for meetings, you probably love the AI-powered recording and transcription features. They capture everything, take notes, and provide a solid recap – so you can focus on the conversation instead of scrambling to jot things down. AI even identifies who said what… as long as they’re signed in.
But what if you’re all in the same room? Until now, AI would only recognize the person who started the meeting, making it impossible to track who said what. Not anymore! Microsoft launched voice and face enrollment – available in Teams Premium. Now, Teams can identify speakers in the same room and accurately document them in the recap.
This is a huge win for sales, operations, executive meetings, marketing, and any team that needs clear, reliable notes. If your organization has Teams Premium, your meetings just got a whole lot smarter!
What’s Voice and Face Enrollment?
This feature lets you create a profile by recording your voice and face. Why? So Teams can recognize you during meetings.
Here’s why that’s awesome:
- Know Who’s Talking: Teams can now tell who’s speaking, making it easier to follow along and get accurate transcriptions.
- Clearer Audio: By recognizing your voice, Teams can cut out background noise and make sure you sound clear.
- Smoother Meetings: This feature makes Microsoft Copilot in Teams Rooms devices work even better, so your meetings run smoother.
How to Get Started
Getting set up is simple:
- Open Settings: Click the “…” in the top right corner of your Teams desktop application, and select “Settings” from the drop-down menu.

2. Select Recognition: From the left-hand menu, click “Recognition”.

3. Voice Enrollment: Select “Create voice profile”, and a new prompt will appear with a text dialog. Click the “Start voice capture” button and read the displayed text.

4. Face Enrollment: Next, follow the instructions to enroll your face. This helps Teams recognize you visually during meetings. Follow the instructions to complete your face enrollment. Don’t worry, you can delete your profile anytime you want.

**Every person in the Teams meeting needs to complete this setup for it to work accurately. This is especially important if you are all sitting in a room and only running one instance of the Teams meeting. If each person is signed in remotely, then Teams will automatically capture it correctly.
This feature shows how technology is evolving. AI takes notes, gives insights, recaps, and assigns tasks to the right person. Amazing, right? Yep, 100%. Time to celebrate and do a “no note-taking” dance!!
The real value comes from allowing everyone to stay fully engaged in conversations without worrying about taking detailed notes.
Netted out, Teams’ voice and face recognition could be another game-changer for businesses looking to improve their meetings. Step one may be to look at Team Premium (read more here) and decide if it’s right for your organization.
